good thoughts of the album but little to no details about the actual album. I negged it. No history, no song information, no notes really on the instruments either. Though you have a good writing style; its fun to read

I actually thought I gave a pretty decent overall idea of what the album sounds like without being overtly specific in regards to the music itself, which can be quite a challenge to describe in detail. But to each his own.

you didnt even say:
the guitars have good riffs and are sweet
the drumming is sweet
the vocals are good
the music is great

Ok ill post one more time. First off no hard feelings. I think your a good writer, and I think you have style; which is one of the most difficult part of writing.
Great intro paragraph. Interesting, solid, informative, and is still is just an intro....
Second paragraph; "energetic riffing, "its hard to take in all at once" "every element is engaging" "curveballs keep coming" "skillful instrumentation...." are all secondary attributes to the music. These are all needed, but to describe the music. I have no knowledge of this band so... im left in the dark here. What songs are you refering to, do the (bass and drums) work successfully with the guitar and vocals...
What basslines did you like, you mentioned "guitar licks;" ok where? Any songs stand out to you? How about overall album structure? Does this album evolve from their last effort? (you did mention it unconventional compared to Death Church but thats not a detail of the album). Where have they improved....
You don't need to answer all of these questions, but considering the level of content in (pretty much the second paragraph) I don't have any idea of what this band is about besides your feelings of the songs.

I get what you're saying, but it's a futile exercise with this particular album to go in and say, "This track sounds like this, and this track sounds like this." It's fairly typical '80s British punk with crazy monologues and noises mixed in, and all the songs lyrically deal with the life and writings of H.P. Lovecraft. I make it pretty clear that there isn't much structure to the songs. Not much more I can say than that.
