I got into this album while my life was ruling hard, still ruled hard as an album

Damn right I am. Kinda annoyed its at the metro, not the most intimate of venues and has kinda shitty wheelchair access

I know. I'm damn disappointed it's not at Annandale again but that's a whole other issue.

I was kind of expecting/hoping for Manning Bar since I'm there for uni most of the time anyway, but oh well. I still can't wait.

Yeah I would have thought Manning is the next step up in venue size and has great sound/can be potentially intimate and great access. The other good option would be Hi Fi Bar, which while not intimate had the best sound and ambience.

But yeah, gig is going to be amazing. Prepare for the weird mix of snotty hardcore kids and lame hipsters that La Dispute brings out

I know. Their show last year was bad enough when it came to fans; I'm expecting this year to be worse. Still, I'm mainly going for PBTT, so I can always go to the back and grab a beer once their set is done.

Here's to hoping BTDATD play support again. However unlikely that is.

BTDATD really rock hard for a bunch of tradies in their late 30s. Love those guys. I agree I hope they open again, especially

since it'd be the largest gig they've played at (and I missed their album launch in my local record store).

And agreed. I like La Dispute but I've seen them twice now, whereas I've been waiting way too goddamn long to see Pianos

live

Yeah. They're definitely one of my favourite Aussie bands around these days. Just a pity they don't play more shows, but I can totally understand why.

I missed the gig at blackwire too last year. Damn it.

Though to be honest we'll probably get Perspectives or Endless Heights supporting like they seem to do every other band that comes to town.

I hear PBTT are writing their third LP now too.

Nah they played a gig at Beatdisc too, disappointed cos I'm pretty friendly with the guys in there and would have been could to support them.

But yeah haha, I reckon Perspectives are more suited but Endless Heights are a bigger deal. Bare Bones is gaining traction too, but they don't really fit with the sound of the Wave.

Damn, I didn't know about that one. You're from Parra then, Northie?

I've never really been sold on Perspectives or EH to be honest. Perspectives has that one good song they open shows with and Endless Heights just irritate me for some reason. I've never heard Bare Bones before.

I've also seen Safe Hands open a few gigs recently. They're not too bad, but they get a bit chugga chugga sometimes for my liking.

Blacktown born and raised, baby.

I like Perspectives quite a lot. It's the same old sound as every other melodic hardcore band but I like it. EH on the other hand, yeah, their songwriting isn't particularly sophisticated even for a hardcore band, and their vocalist kinda sucks. But they're nice dudes, and anything other than chugga chug brocore getting popular is a good thing in my books. Always annoys me that the Aussie bands that get popular brocore. Also disappointing that any hardcore band that attains any form of popularity is just a rip off of the American scene. We seem incapable of forging our own sound

Ha, cool. I live just outta Fairfield.

I don't actively dislike either band really, it's just that I'm indifferent to them, though I do prefer Perspectives to EH. I think EH's vocalist is one of the most obnoxious frontmen I've seen-he was actively encouraging his mates to windmill and stagedive the last time I saw them, and they all ended up tearing into the group of people standing off to the side waiting for the headliner; my mate and I got kicked in the head. I guess it's to be expected at a hardcore show, but some live and let live would've been nice.

Yeah, it's disappointing. We have some fairly unique acts in the post-rock, metal, and alt rock scenes, but hardcore out here is pretty bland. It doesn't help that most people I meet who like or want to play hardcore are only interested in playing MLIW or Defeater covers.

In case anyone was curious, these guys are great live. I've seen them twice now, once before they released TLLA and another several months ago, and they are always amazing and the crowd always sucks massive fucking dick
