Wow, they went and made a video for the one song I dislike:

The video is "interesting" though.

The trio of "Hello, Helicopter," "shutDOWN," and "Dirt From A Holy Place" is the band's greatest point imo. The first is brilliantly layered, the second builds incredibly, and the last has an ending that is just eerie as hell. "The Escape Artist" is my other true favorite of OSI.

"Dirt from a Holy Place" rules. That's definitely my favorite instrumental by these guys. Such an amazing sound.

Been listening to this for quite sometime now and i think i can say one thing or two.
The record is great, although I wish there would be more songs like "Invisible Man" which is probably their best work as of now.
The drums are masterfully exucuted, they sound as if they were programmed.
In my book, if Blood was a 3.5+, this one is a 3.5-.

^ That's because Gavin Harrison played them. I can see how he could be confused with a drum machine, though. ;) He's just that good.

Just saw the booklet, you are right.
Gavin Harrison slays.
Edit: This album also reminds me of the most recent Chroma Key album.

For Nothing was obviously an outtake or unfinished song from Graveyard Mountain Home, in the same way that ShutDOWN was from Fates Warning's Disconnected discarded material. I'm upset that Enemy Prayer has the best groove in the whole album, and there aren't any vocals. disappointing...

I really like the vocal style, not too "proggy." I think his limited range and tone suits the music incredibly well. As far as this album goes... I wasn't too thrilled, liking Blood more. I felt the first half of this album was really weak, lots of generic guitar riffing. I don't know. I like the chill, electronic stuff from Blood more, like "Terminal," "We Come Undone," and then of course, "Blood," which is absolutely fantastic.

Can't believe I hadn't found out about the new record until recently. And this review just got me all excited like the first time I heard about OSI's existence. Fingers crossed.
Oh, and the video for For Nothing's awesome. Almost enough to show it to a Tool fan.

Dammit Moore and Matheos wth

Kevin Moore on vocals brings this down hard imo.

His vocals aren't anything special but they fit with most of their music, but he needs to change things up with fresh effects, etc.

I was never a fan of all the electronic sampling either.

Well that comes with the Moore and Matheos territory. They could make their albums much more interesting. Sometimes the music doesn't seem cohesive, like both the guys composed their own sections and pasted them together, which makes sense given the way they work, but it weakens the songs
