this album definitely has some good songs on it, but some real clunkers too. I'd probably put it 5th or 6th if I were to rank their discog.

^now that u mention it, I really should listen to their pre-Next albums. I've only heard some tracks from each, not the entirety.

oh yeah you definitely should
their first three albums are head and shoulders above everything else they've released. Personally, I think Home is their best.
Outside of those, Alpha and Seasons are both probably worth checking out.

No way. It was the only album without Clint that didn't sound like it was missing something. What didn't you like about it?

all of the shitty songs
that and the fact that it had a Daughtry feature

Chapter VII is my least favorite.

well I mean I guess it's a fine album if you're looking for something along the lines of Nickelback or Three Doors Down
but that's not what I look for from Sevendust

Lol, gtfo. That song was their best ballad since Seasons. Plus, the Tremonti/Kennedy features made up for him anyway.

I like Chapter Vii but it kind of disappointed me after Alpha. Nevertheless, I like it, especially Tremonti/Kennedy.

I could imagine liking Alpha the best if you like -core music. I thought there was too much Morgan, not enough melody. Most of the guitar riffs weren't very interesting or Sevendust-ish. Those things improved a lot on Chapter VII.
Feed is better than anything on Chapter VII though.

Aso, you sound like you probably started listening to Sevendust sometime in the mid-2000s
is that a correct assumption?

I do like a lot of -core music, but I think the reason I like Alpha so much is that it initially blew me away with how heavy it was, so that feeling just kind of never left. I understand what you mean, though.

Nah, 2000 or 2001. A little while before Animosity came out. That's partly why that one and Home are my favorites.

ah. this is what made me think that:
Most of the guitar riffs weren't very interesting or Sevendust-ish
I feel like a lot of the riffs on the first two albums are very "core" sounding. The guitar work on those two is very staccato and hardcore-influenced.
