Well, don't let the stuff Hawks mentioned leave a bad taste in your mouth ;) I'm always up for rec'ing some random stuff.

Not entirely sure what the hate for Hawks is about.
I'm always up for rec'ing some random stuff.
Since you mention it. What you got Willie?

ha ha, there's no hate for Hawks from me and he knows it.
Try Evereve - Seasons and Stormbirds to see where bands like Agalloch came from. Keep in mind, too, that the vocalist killed himself after those two albums so from the third album forward is something entirely different. Two forgetten old-school classics.

No offense Trey, but my morbid sense of humour just came over me..... Did the vocalist think those albums were that bad?
I'll certainly look into those, maybe you can help me? I'm looking for bands similar to Arafel. Or album/s with that Israli, Egyptian, Oriental prescence much like Akan but in a less pronounced manner.

No offense taken. I didn't know the guy ;) Definitely check them out, though. I think you'll like them.
I'm sure you've already heard of Nile and their Egyptian death metal. Also, the Amorphis album with those influences is called Tuonela. I'll get back to you with more similar stuff later.

There's still the same formatting issues as before. Run a 'spell check' through Word or whatever you use.
Edit: Also, have you heard Nile already?
Edit 2: Got another one with those influences: Moonspell - Under Satanae

Yes to Nile,
Only touched Moonspell slightly so i'll explore that a little more.
Run a 'spell check' through Word or whatever you use.
Done now, didn't pick up on too much though : /

They need to be more interesting, more complex song structures to fit the interesting sounds/cultural aspect

I second the Moonspell rec, oh and you can always check Orphaned Land and Aghora since you liked Arkan that much.

The only Moonspell with a ton of 'ethnic' influences is the one I mentioned above.

Yeah Trey I can actually see myself getting into that.

Not my cup of tea, but doesn't take away from the fact that this is very well written. May have to check it out, broaden my horizons a bit. Have a pos man
