Anyone know any albums that sound like this? So hard to find. This is the perfect blend of jazz, rock and pop.

@Collis I think you'd enjoy The Doobie Brothers.
The Captain and Me, Toulouse Street and What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits are all fantastic albums.

has anyone my age (25) noticed an uptick in interest in steely dan among their general peer group. young millennials

I got into them cuz my buddy (we're both 25) liked them alot, but I think he found out about them through his dad who studied music at uni.
|
| |
This is like the number one band to study when talking about music I've noticed lol
|
| |
its completely anecdotal but I think 2018-19-20 brought a big steely dan revival among young people. wonder why...
it makes sense that they'd be so studied though, their songwriting style is super complex (therefore "more to study"?) and sounds like no one else to me really
