There's different Shiina, is a better thing to say. There's something for everyone with Shiina, it seems. A lot of people don't seem to like her new direction and think she's a hack now.

Whoever says Shiina is a hack and dropped in quality 2008 onwards are silly, every album she has done is awesome and she is one of my top 3 artists/bands in terms of taking their LP's as a whole I've heard. Also today I gave this another listen...and damn it I'll bump this to a 4.5 if it's that good again.

If you check out the electricmole or jpop suki forums there are quite a few people who are done with her and think she's just repeating herself. A lot of complaints of her just 'slapping together' Sunny because a lot of tracks were singles she's already released. Though, to be fair, the average listener isn't going to know she's released most of those songs already as singles and not on an album. To a lot of people those might have been new songs.



Anyway, to me she's always done quality work and her voice sounds better than ever. She had some low points when Jihen was disbanding and you could tell they were running out of ideas, but it was never terrible.

She's never repeated herself, Sunny is different to every album she's done as per usual with her albums so that argument is stupid. To be fair the 'slapping together' criticism is valid since Sunny feels less like an album compared to her other albums. The first half feels like a cohesive theme musically and the second half feels like a mish mash of styles (but pulled off well enough and isn't jarring enough for me to criticise that). I've heard Jihen's album and outside of a few songs and Adult it doesn't intrest me :/

lol at people saying she's repeating herself. I do feel like the next album she does needs to be more sonically consistent though. Taking an eclectic approach to album making can be a slippery slope.

Shukyo is among my fav Shiina songs, but then again so is Doppleganger, Meisai, Kuki and the album closer.



Also, Mr Infinity bumps his rating and album avg goes up to 4.4 Win.

Now it just needs to go back up to 4.5 like it was on this site when I first found it.

Aye I remember that, also Shukyo, Kuki and Porutagaisuto are definately my favs here. If I made a list of my fav Shiina songs god it would be a nightmare to make.
