Korn were also influenced by hardcore and the first couple deftones records were 90s pxc all the way (think Quicksand) in the vocal department and a lot of the riffs (minus Steph's metalhead ways)

its "nu metal" for a reason- they incorporated a lot of non-metal genre elements in addition to popular thrash/groove/industrial/whatever

I think you missed one of the best moments of music since the grunge thing in the 90's. Nu-metal practically ate up all the teen pop movement in the late 90's.

Was an absolute banger back when It first came out, when I was 13. Of all the un-metal albums this and Around the Fur have aged incredibly well, I still get a good kick out of the crunchy, simple riffs and guitar tones. Doesn't matter that Jacoby's lyrics aren't perfect, his performance is raw and honest.

Gosh, I haven't heard Angels and Insects in a loooong time. It was my favorite from this. I think there was a bonus track that was pretty cool, too, maybe? That seems pretty foggy.

Broken Home, Last Resort and t/t get nostalgia points though.

Perfect comment tbh. Between Angels and Insects is one of the best songs that came out the whole damn genre. Shame they turned into frankly embarrassing stadium rock, not that they were ever masters at the nu- thing either.
