THIS
People that like Genesis' prog roots probably hate "Invisible Touch" but there’s a reason this sold 15 million copies while albums like “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” only get masturbated over by dudes who like to play Magic the Gathering and watch Star Trek; it was just a masterfully executed pop album that appealed to a much wider audience.

Agree. Collins is a dreadful person but he wrote some goddamn classics.

Actually the album is a passing, but I gave it that score because it is one of the most annoying things about genesis, even though I'm a hardcore fan of the band. Same with we can't dance. Still can't decide who's to blame on their music direction.

Half of the album rules, I think
worthy songs: tonight, land of confusion, domino, the brazilian and anything she does
Shitty songs: the rest of the album

The angry video game nerd reference to the band is hilarious: The game is the book of genesis for the sega genesis, and the soundtrack....is genesis.

Rutherford and Banks. Their decision to not play Supper's Ready during the We Can't Dance tour despite Phil wanting it in the set will never fail to piss me off.

I read that too.
I also read that there's a possibility of a genesis reunion but just the last line-up...I want Hackett and Gabriel back....

Can you imagine Phil walking with a stick through the stage? Jesus....

Genesis will never reunite.
Both Gabriel and Hackett have other priorities considering both still do work at a near-constant basis (even if Peter hasn't done a true solo album in almost twenty years)
Phil will most likely never ever be behind the drum kit ever again because his body is fucked and had to tape the sticks to his hands during 2007 reunion and considered killing himself because he couldn't play anymore (which coincided with a bout of alcoholism -- thankfully, he didn't go through with it).
Plus, Rutherford and Banks are just cunts in general.

Banks is a fucking hypocrite: he makes pop for genesis, but when he goes solo HE MAKES FUCKING CLASSICAL MUSIC.

Musicians like Jon Anderson and Fripp himself never sacrificed their progressive music roots for pop songs to get more popular.
Banks on the other hand....

"Jon Anderson"
what is 90215 (should add Yes were relatively popular before this, but this one is pretty much the only one Americans give a damn about, whereas it underperformed in the U.K.)

back to the "pop/classical" bit, that'd be like being shocked that Billy Joel decided to make an album full of classical music after making a dozen pop albums.
It's not that surprising when considering Banks came from an upper class background and is classically trained, as with a good deal of keyboardists.
