just like Aquarius did, it reminds me of everything I love in music. I feel like its more of a 4.5 than a 5 but fuck it, Im a fanboy so hurrmadurr.
Final Track is pure ballsparade!

This is so much better than their debut.
Rules hard.

Listening to this for the first time since the initial 3 times at release. It's holding up pretty well, I really like it. I think Aquarius is still a little better for me though.

I still don't particularly like this. On first listen, the only song I thought was excellent was "Deathless". Pretty much everything else left me cold (as on Aquarius).

Yep, great album. Feel like they are having less fun on this one and have gone for a moodier feel, but still a fantastic album. Aquarius is slightly better imo.

I don't know this seems so much more focused and streamlined than Aquarius. Aquarius really overdid the Bungle-esque circus music. Besides the first half of "Streams" I'd probably take everything on this album over everything on Aquarius.

Title-track has some absolutely fantastic moments. It's such a Dream Theater song though.

If you enjoy progressive rock/metal, you won't find an album better or more well-arranged than this. They nailed it. I was surprised at how much I enjoy this. Top 3 AOTY for me.

No. I love progressive rock/metal. But this band sounds is as if someone decided to make a certain form of progressive music just to piss me off.

Aquarius has some good moments but I've found this much more consistent and interesting throughout. The title track is especially gripping.
If the only the lyrics weren't laughably bad. Nothing as hilarious as the opening verse of "Streams" though.

I find Aquarius to be more instantly gratifying than this record, but given a chance to grow, this tops even that. I'd definitely agree with a top 3 AOTY rating on this bitch

This was much more instantly gratifying for me...
I don't get the Aquarius love. A lot of the songs have one or two really good ideas but the rest loses me.

I get where you're coming from, and I might lower my rating on that one just slightly, cause Drowning in the Flood and Sun are both growing off me a bit, but Celestial Elixir was just like instant love despite its excessive cheese. Also, I've also been fairly adept at ignoring god-awful lyrics, so I quite enjoy the 70s prog rock (almost Genesis like) vibe I get off the first half of Streams. Plus, I don't mind the carnival sounds so much, which is a primary reason I still like modern Dream Theater with Jordan Rudess.

I love the first half of Streams and like, the middle to the end of Celestial Elixir. Those are my favorites there. The lyrics are lolbad though. The first verse of streams make me burst out laughing every time. It's quite possibly the cheesiest opening stanza ever.
