Willie, so I guess my request for you to write a staff review for this is not going to compel you to provide a warm response then? I just don't have the time.

yeah he's busy

ha ha. I am busy. I have a handful of other reviews to do still, plus all the 'behind the scenes' shit I have do. Those new release lists don't just make themselves ;)

Not sure why everyone is turned off by the vocals.

i think 'Pretty' is one of the better tracks on the album. sub-par by no means.
i think 'one with the sun' is more lazy, and too simple and safe for them.

Heard this today, first time i've ever heard this band and I absolutely love them. They are like a mix of dream theater, Mars volta and Coheed all rolled into one. It's great stuff. Highly recommend this.

I am glad they were able to "rebound" from Revisions....since I consider myself a hardcore 3 fan I didn't think Revisions
was so much better from the originals. I think this album is very very good. Even Pretty is catchy as sin but keep in mind
they cover all genres and like the majority of audiences, they can't handle it...yet so many say I like all kinds of music [I
don't get it]. And for the haters regarding his vocals, get over it...it's well controlled and never out of tune, if its annoying
or not your style I respect that...but then I would scratch my head if they said they like any bands from Zeppelin, Rush, to
Prince or any falsetto-esque singers. My only dislike is how their albums don't have that "it factor" to have that flow from
song to song...I do catch myself skipping tracks to get that song that I'm digging...for instance, Sparrow, Numbers and
It's Alive should be in sequence because they're more raw and harder...but hell I can always create a playlist in put them
in any order I please.
If you like any of their songs, this album or previous, see them live as soon as possible...they are just as clutch as any big
time band. Joey and the rest from 3 are perfectionists when it comes to what they do for a living and passion.

The middle of this album kinda drags to me. But the first few and last few tracks are very, very strong. Still need to listen to everything a few more time though.

It's not that the vocalist is bad, its that he rarely does anything too interesting with his voice. Match that with his often terrible lyrics and it makes him seem very mehh. Albums good and I love 3, but the vocals are definitely the worst part of the band (his best parts on the album sound like claudio would do them better)

Holy shit this is awesome

Well. I expected a better album. The End's Begun destroys it.

Have to listen to that too

Has some killer tracks but as a whole I find the album to be just better than solid...like they're previous two LPs a lot more...

......why. Why am I only listening to these guys now. My favorite band of all time is easily Coheed,
and a few times Last FM listed 3 as being incredibly similar, but I never gave them a chance.
So I got their whole discography, and started with their first album...yuck. Cringe worthy stuff.
Their second album, and Wake Pig, are just so-so..pretty mediocre stuff.
And then what happened? The End is Begin is fucking FANTASTIC. And this album is the same. Easily
both 5's from me.
The reason I love Coheed is the creativity in the instrumentation, the amazing vocal melody, and the
harmony.
And it turns out for years these two albums have rivalled Coheed's best, and I never heard them
until now. Completely blown away.
"Only Child" mighy be my favorite here. Eppard's vocal melodies are fantastic, especially in the
beginning of the track here (and remind me of the bizarre and haunting middle interlude of The Last
Day on the previous album).
This man can sound incredibly generic and underwhelming one moment, and then turn around and sing
the catchiest syllables I've heard in music since...well..since I began listening to Coheed &
Cambria.
Just amazing. Spun this album and the last 5-6 times each and it's not getting old.
