I love me some great female cleans, even if it's combined with really average instrumentals. Band is a guilty pleasure of mine. Great review btw, pos.

The single is seriously catchy. I might consider listening to this at some point.

Yep. Loving every track now. I used to hate "Sick," but it's not so bad after all.

My dad was talking about how good this album was, and he had me play "The Other Side" so I could see if I liked it. He started talking about how "haunting it sounded", and how "gothic it is and how minor the chords are". I was thinking -_-
I love my dad to death, but he loves to ramble about things he doesn't know too much about lol.

your dad sounds hilariously awesome
|

Yes, he is. He's pretty much awesome; just know that he owns the website http://www.bobbleheads.com and that should prove your theory.

Woh your dad is the man.

A question for all you dudes:
A lady I work with was talking about how she likes Evanescence - that's totally fine, to each his/her own tastes - and she claims that "Emo" could be listed as a secondary/tertiary genre for Evanescence, right after I tried to impose upon her that the whole "emo" thing has basically become a giant misnomer from kids who essentially labeled non-emo music as "emo"....so, your thoughts? Could Evanescence be labeled as an emo band, even if only as a sort of subgenre for them?
My thoughts are that they can obviously not fall into that category and that they're somewhere between Hard Rock and NuMetal, but I'd like to know what you think. LET'S ARGUE GENRES IT'S PRODUCTIVE YEAH!
|
| |
calling evanescence emo? she was just being ironic!
|
| |
Yeah, Evanescence is in no way whatsoever 'emo', and anyone claiming that they can be placed under that as a tertiary genre is seriously misguided.

i think I'd have to agree haha

This is as bad as it gets. Right there with the new Nightwish album, pure crap with creamy shit on top.

Surprisingly good album, actually

Okay, I 'get' why you would think this, but they are in completely different leagues. Nightwish are trying WAY too hard, but this is a much less forced pop/rock record that doesn't try to be a sickeningly theatrical, overwrought mess of an album.

had no idea this band is still around/that people actually like them

Nothing dynamic as far as musicianship goes, but the vocal range Amy Lee displays is incredibly pleasing to the ears. Lyrically, they actually go beyond the woe-is-me BS that I find grating and disappointing.
