"drunken viking was one of the worst sputnik users ever, he was a shitty writer who was only liked cause he pissed off the people who liked good metal by giving atreyu and post-colony in flames high scores. that's hardly ballsy, that's just having bad taste"

glad someone else remembers him, he was a retard

"We have m-e-t-a-l in our name," drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone (via NME). "We can go f---ing anywhere and do anything."

"Lou and us – we're kindred souls," added guitarist Kirk Hammett. "We both have a clear vision of what you should sound like and say. Also, he has an edge that totally fits. He speaks our language, slightly sarcastic and blunt, like another pea in the pod."

I love how they made a relative return to form with Death Magnetic now they've gone off the deep end into self delusion again

where can they go from here?

@ Meatplow - their just doing a collaboration with Lou. its a Lou Reed Album Featuring.... Metallica. not the other way around i heard the view it was pretty weird but its cool in a weird way too. their much more than metal musicians (not that being a metal musician is nothing special it's my favorite genre) their artists that like to explore different things. their next album will still be in the Death Magnetic style im sure of it.

besides in retrospect a lot of people say they should have released Load & Reload as side project cause it was experimental for them (i don't agree, but i see their point) with Lou Reed they can express that experimentation without it being a Metallica record. again its a Lou Reed album FEATURING Metallica. Metallica are contributing to this like Michael Kamen contributed to S&M.

rant over.... whew!

I think you are downplaying Metallica's involvement in Lulu, somewhat. Even if it was Reed's concept not once anywhere did I read that this was some sort of Lou Reed solo project with Metallica simply treated as a backing band, or even given "featured" billing, it would appear to be a full collaboration with all the bells and whistles that come along with claiming Reed is like an unofficial, true fifth member of the band.

that song they released earlier was a clusterfuck of pretentiousness, I honestly feel Metallica is at risk of alienating a lot of fans with Reed's nonsensical geriatric prattling. dude is about as over the hill as it gets, and at a point they seemed to have pumped a bit of life into their recording career after an all time low they decide pairing up with an old burnt out hippie fogy like Reed is a wonderful idea. Seriously?

I think too many people are claiming that LULU is the next Metallica album and a reflection of some new direction they are taking. It's just a side project, not the next album.

@ Meatplow - yeah i agree its a really weird maybe bad decision to do a weird album like this with

Lou Reed (i wouldn't call him a burnt out hippie that's pretty harsh regardless if you like him or

not) but their artists they want to experiment it's their right (artistic freedom). it might be good

too cause then they won't get burnt out with doing the same thing over and over again (i thinks that's

why they decided to do the black album cause kill through justice were very similar) and they'll feel

inspired to do a thrash album again after... whatever genre Lulu is??? but i like the view so i want

to hear the whole of Lulu. might be good too (i hope)

@ Meatplow - Oh and i don't think they care what the fans thinks is a good idea they just make music

for fun, for themselves and the more people like it the better. but it doesn't affect their

creativity. and from what i read on the official website. is that Metallica are mainly involved with

song arrangement and the playing of course and not much else, no lyrics no story it's mainly Lou Reed.

i think it like 65%-70% Lou Reed> 30%-35% Metallica on this record. not 50/50 i think your overplaying

Metallica's impute in this album (not saying they don't do alot but listening to "The View" and what i

read on the official website sounds more Lou Reed than Metallica, hence the Lou Reed AND Metallica

title (just my 2 cents)

@ RosaParks - 100% disagree with you. i know you don't like St. Anger so i won't mention songs i think

are great from it. but That was just your life, All nightmare long, My Apocalypse, the day that never

comes, cyanide are all amazing songs their all regulars on the live set lists too.

what songs are you referring to from the 90's by the way, only black album? if so, Outlaw torn,

bleeding me, until it sleeps, king nothing, fuel, memory remains, unforgiven 2, fixxer (to name a few)

are all great metal songs too.
