Mercyful Fate was one of the most influential European underground bands of the early 80's. Difficult to label...let's say their work is between classic metal (Priest oriented), Thrash and Black Metal (concept and lyrics).



King's work is definitely more classic metal oriented. If you wish, try to listen a song called Halloween on Youtube. I believe it helps you to catch his style.

Very true Vod, my friend. Still better is being surrounded by English speakers. From mouth to ear; There's no better way to learn well. (not my case btw)

I've been getting into "THEM" recently. I think King Diamond has an amazing voice, but he kind of focuses too much on the lyrics, so much so that it disrupts the flow of the songs.

I understand your point here Asiatic, that's one of the reasons why sometimes it's hard to get into King Diamond. His theatrical vocals have always played the major role on the songs and, like you said, sometimes disrupts the flow.



However that's his unique signature..the thing that makes King so different from other metal acts in my opinion.



If you don't know Fatal Portrait I advice you to dig it asap...very cool debut.
