I love Zeppelin, but IV is kind of a let down. It doesn't hold up to II, Physical Grafiti, or Houses of the Holy.

I love Led Zeppelin IV, and I agree with the people who say it never gets old. Every song on here is a masterpiece (except maybe Four Sticks.) I still think Led Zeppelin I is their most underated album.

This CD was only #66 On Rolling Stone's Greatest Albums List? I would've thought it would be at least at top 10.
Yeah, I thought it was low. But then again, it is Rolling Stone..
Isnt it misty mountian hop? Correct me if im wrong.
It is, my typo.
A contendor for the most over-rated album of all time.
Sure it is overrated, but it is also a great album. And there is a lot of more overrated bands out there.
Thanks for all the comments guys.

Without a shadow of a doubt Stairway to Heaven is the greatest song ever written. I love how it builds up from the quiet intro to the mind blowing guitar solo and then the Hard Rock at the end. Robert Plant has never sung so well. If you love this song- murh! what am I saying, look into my eyes: YOU LOVE THIS SONG!- be sure to check out Dazed and Confused off Led Zeppelin I Jimmy Page is on top form.

This is a really excellant album every song is a masterpiece. Jimmy Pages Guitar work is perfact, Bonham's drums are tight and great, Plants voice amazing (maybe a little bit overthe top) and John Paul Jones bass and keyboards is very well done. This is my favourite album of all time. 5/5

i find it brilliant how zep uses LOTR references as metaphors in their songs.
Ramble On: gollum, mordor
Misty Mountain Hop: duh, misty mountains
Battle of Evermore: ringwraiths (and arguably, this song can parallel events in Return of the King)
although, not a lot of people i know seem to have noticed this.

When the Levee Breaks is awesome (not to mention my favorite Zeppelin song).
I don't like the rest of the album as much though.

mediocre? care to explain why?

I can't stand Going to California, The Battle of Evermore, or Four Sticks. The rest are good, though.

I love this album, then again, with such good songs on it, how could I not?
I tried the Stairway backwards thing, didn't work - couldn't hear any satanic hidden messages in it - but with Smells Like Teen Spirit I could hear the "I hate you" bit.
I've noticed the Lord of the Rings bits as well, but only in Ramble On and obviously Misty Mountain Hop, never noticed the ringwraiths in Battle for Evermore

This sounds like a better album than the other ones.

My english teacher from 8th grade can play Battle of Evermore. He did it a couple times in class.

I don't think Moon is overrated. He deserves the credit he's given. Any of you heard about the movie that is supposedly coming out about Keith Moon's life?
The backwards playing of Stairway to Heaven is absolute bullshit. They could tell you it said anything, and tweak it around enough so you actually heard it. IT IS BULLSHIT, from people who have no life.

'Stairway to Heaven' is easily the best on this album and the best Zeppelin song released. After that for me it would probably be 'Black Dog' which has one of the greatest guitar riffs.
I can see how people don't like Robert Plant's voice but I still love Led Zeppelin.

i never really liked Led Zepplin, let alone stairway to heaven, BUT
like, yesterday i learnt how to play stairway to heaven on guitar, and suddenly i realise how cool they really were
rock on zepplin

All of their albums, bar In Through the Out Door and [/i]CODA[/i], are much better than this.
