Andy Summers is my guitar god. Hard to believe he got those tones out of just an Echoplex, delay and a Telecaster

Fuck, Shadows in the Rain is like my favorite off of this but Sting's cover is so fucking good and different I didn't even realize it was a Police song

Not their best but great album anyway.

Definitely, there is something wrong with the review (or the reviewer). In fact, he/she has the wrong viewpoint on this album. Zenyatta Mondatta is The Police`s masterpiece, no matter what people thinks about it. Next to it is Reggatta de Blanc, my favorite Police album, and Ghost In The Machine. So, reviewers shall listen first to any album, before putting out their thoughts.

that's an antiquated way of judging music

Don't Stand So... is an incredibly applicable song to current issues. Great album/song too.

Yeah that song's version from 86 it's probably my fave Police track.

RobertZDar: So, you think that listening to an album first, and writing down a review, afterwards, is way old-fashioned....I don`t think so. You get to know the album, first. Then, you will be able to come up with your comments, based on your own experience. That`s the right way to do it! I guess that judging music without actually listening is like eating a meal without being hungry. I don`t know. It`s just a thought.

Dewinged: I enjoy both versions of Don`t Stand So Close To Me. The original 1980 version is the best, IMHO. On the other hand, the 1986 version is substantially reworked, but it is listenable, too.

This album is a rare instance in which I deeply hate the singles, but love the rest of the album to death.

Ok, maybe not so much do do de da da da but don't stand so close to me is probably the song I hate the most in the entire police discography along with mother. Thank God they reworked the song.

Sad that the boys couldn't get their shit together for a proper comeback record after the reunion tour. Listening to Circa Zero's debut (Andy's new band) makes it clear that he had tons of song ideas and riffs ready to go, so many of them are blatantly Police songs
