Ugh this would be so much better if it wasn't for the over-the-top and uninspired diatribes GY!BE insist on using. The 'fell into it, like a daydream' speech makes me cringe every time I hear it.
My first post-rock album though so i have a soft spot for it

I'd really like to see a review of this that doesn't mention the apocalypse. You know, the band never came out and said "HEY GUISE THIS IS OUR ALBUM ABOUT THE END OF THE WORLD." It could/can be much, much broader than that.

But yeah, definitely one of the greatest pieces of music ever conceived. Without a shadow of a doubt.

Yeah, okay, they didn't say it wasn't. But it's open to interpretation, that's all I'm saying. It can be about what you want it to be about.

and people want it to be about the apocalypse

dude, i'm just saying it SEEMS like a lot people think that's what the album is inherently about. like, damn near every review i've seen for it (not just on this site) mentions that. it seems like they don't even acknowledge the fact that it could and can be about something else.

I am if you can explain it to me. Seems like a lot of senseless, boring noise. It doesn't seem like music.

It might seem boring if you're used to music that exposes all of its ideas very quickly. The thing with this album, and the genre it belongs to, is that all of its ideas are very gradual. If you haven't listened to any post-rock before, yes, it can be difficult to get into. But give it some time, and bask in the ambiance. Listen to each melody on its own, one by one, and then piece them all together. The first half of "East Hastings" has plenty. Once you're used to the aesthetics of the music, getting an emotional reaction out of it will come much easier. Trust me ;)

I like post rock, but this album just... I dunno, bores me. I want to like it, but I can't get into
it.
