not very. san diego is around 77-85 fahrenheit. at its hottest, maybe 90. (you can convert to celsius haha). winters are usually chillier than it's been this year (around 55 for a high) but it's not cold by any stretch. i love california weather ofc, but a few 55/rainy days would be nice haha.
keep in mind san diego is really close to the beach, so it's really temperate. my hometown is a little further from the beach (i'd guess 6-7 km) and the weather is even nicer, although sometimes in september it gets a little too hot.

oh man I'd love to live that close to the beach. from the little I know about it, SD seems like a great place to live

yeah southern california has a pretty steep cost of living, especially near the beach (my campus is about 3 min away from the beach, otherwise i'm not sure i could afford living this close), and has pretty high taxes on top of that. but if you can afford it, it's a wonderful place to live. this is particularly true of san diego but extends to orange county, the LA area, santa barbara, etc. basically anywhere reasonably close to the beach

makes sense. if I was to live in the states, the bay area would be at the top of my list for sure. where are you from originally?

bay area is nice too. i lived there when i was pretty young (almost 15 years ago, wow) and i just remember it was chilly haha.
i'm originally from irvine (in orange county), which is only about an hour north of san diego.

@rowan i hated beaches too up until i was... 16? i'm not sure but i first started loving beaches when i had big parties simply set at the beach. we didn't necessarily go in the water (though we would boogie board or swim or whatever) but there's open space so you can have a huge group of people (~40 at our parties) and you can have a bonfire and stuff. you can also do other stuff like go to the piers. it's super fun, and the ocean breeze is always appreciated during a hot summer's day.
nowadays i enjoy going to the beach solely to sit in the water and chill with friends, or go boogie boarding with them. so whereas before it was the backdrop to big parties, now i prefer going with a close group of friends and just chilling.
but i do know where you're coming from, it's all about who you go with and what you do. beach isn't that much fun with parents imo
