"Stairway is one of Zeppelin's worst."
overrated? yes, but no way is it their worst. you could choose a good chunk from this and Coda for that category.
and i swear if you say Carouselambra is prog in any sense, i'm going to pop a blood vessel.

"Carouselambra" barely prog, it's more awesome long as fuck synthy bluesy goodness.
Stairway's build up doesn't pay off at all.

i know that, i just remember you always saying stuff like "it's like zeppelin doing prog" and it's nowhere near that at all.
the buildup does pay off. it's better live though with the extended solos though.

"Carouselambra" is more reminiscent of prog than most other Zeppelin songs, but yeah I can see why you wouldn't really call it prog.
Also as for Stairway, I was mainly talking about IV's version which does not pay off for me in the slightest. Seriously it takes 6 minutes to build up and that's all you get? The rest of the album is much better in my opinion.

okay, that makes a bit more sense. In My Time of Dying did a better buildup in half that time. But the solos
are the real meat of Stairway imo.
as for Zeppelin doing prog, that's pretty much No Quarter and the first half of the Houses of the Holy
album. And In the Light. And Kashmir. And Achilles Last Stand. There's tons of other tracks that are more
progressive.

Fair enough when it comes to "Carouselambra"
Yeah and my point with Stairway is that the solos aren't epic enough to have 6 minutes of slow paced buildup behind them... "In My Time of Dying" is perfect at building up though, no complaints there, deff Top 2 PG.
