The Chills feels super out of place, especially because it sounds like a carbon copy off of Should Be Loved off of their previous album

Wow you weren't kidding about them sounding like copies. Though I like the more abrasive sound of The Chills. A
Also what did you guys think of Home?

It's alright. I didn't enjoy Sway much and it seems like a continuation of that. I'm happy for Justin but I feel like his (and the band's) best work has always come from a dark place with a lot of emotion. Their happier stuff just doesn't quite appeal to me as much, but I can't blame them for doing it

A whole lot of this album is awkward and doesn't really come off, but the parts that do are a kick in the teeth

The only parts that really drop it are the weird rap sections that don't gel with anything, honestly

Yeah that's what I mean. There are too many of those. It does work a little in 'Any Man in America' and 'The Flight.' Mostly because the subject matter at hand is so compelling.

I absolutely hate The Flight. It's incredibly awkward to listen to.

I mean the chorus is an absolute clunker but I think the story of a guy blacking out with rage and going to an airport to murder a guy is pretty intriguing

I prefer The End as far as Blue October murder fantasies go

To be fair Jutin was dying of alcohol poisioning around this time, so he had a few loose screws.

I adore this band, probably more than anyone here, and I'm honestly so surprised that THIS is the later-era Blue October album to get a high score. It's just so awkward and disjointed minus a few hits ("The Feel Again" is a top 10 BO song honestly).
Justin was in a very dark place writing this so I can forgive that, but I just cannot get behind this despite trying hard hard.
Their last record was an incredible pop-rock epic, the kind I think Justin was always capable of writing. Deserves a lot more love around these parts. Yes, he's happy now, but that doesn't make for bad music at all. Dude can write catchy hooks for days while having such a genuine approach to singing and lyricism.
