I tend to be more forgiving of sucky parts as long as there is some genius to redeem them. In this case, the abundance of breakdowns sucks, and the melodic parts are dope and some of the heavy non breakdown parts are good too.

I really can't listen to more than a song or two of this at a time, the breakdowns just get so tiresome to listen to again... and again... and again...

I think why I, and a lot of other people like this album so much and find it a HUGE breath of fresh air for modern metalcore/deathcore, is because even though their formula isn't entirely original, it still sounds great. They may sort of "chug" in between the breakdowns (which aren't nearly as generic as a lot of other deathcore bands', and are most of the time genuinely heavy) and melodic sections, but those "chugging" sections are still creative and fun. Plus, the melodic sections (my favorites being that one part in "Flourish," the end of "Oscillator," and "Axiom" in its entirety) are fucking brilliant. They're not just there to be there, they add to the songs and are genuinely affecting. Also, the intro riff to "Contact" is one of my favorite riffs ever.

Huh. I may raise this to a 4.5.

Good review. I will say their formula isn't all too original but at the same time their use of chug and breakdowns to me are heavy, fun, and really don't sound like any breakdowns and chug parts i've ever heard in the sense that most deathcore bands have very typical breakdowns. They also change time signatures a fair amount which i think makes interesting. This band has a beautiful sense of melody in my opinion. The end of Oscillator is nothing short of epic and amazing. I get why this band turn others off but i just fucking love this album.

Of course it's fun. It doesn't mean it's quality though.

It just seems like you're trying to downplay all the hype the album has received without acknowledging the good idea's on it. Like writing a negative review for the sake of writing a negative review.

Did you read the review? I acknowledged the good things about the album (melodic sections, production, solid instrumentation). The basic formula sucks though, and the band will continue to be mediocre until they leave it behind.
