^^
True, but I tend to follow Slayer on the musical side, rather than the message. That seems to be the case with a lot of music I listen to, and I am sure many also follow a similar path...

What kind of message are you guys talking about? Are you offended by the anti christian lyrics and attitude?

I don't really care about it all. The lyrical side of music for me doesn't prevail as much then the musical side...
While lyrics can be projected as another instrument, I don't think this is the case for Slayer. Slayer is more in your face approach, System of a Down is in between, Tool well I love the lyrics, and the harmonies that Maynard James Keenan can produce.
But I am not personally offended in any way by the anti-christian side of Slayer, or any other band with similar views. For me it's just the music, and if I like the lyrics then hey, that's great too.

This album is pretty bad. Tom Araya's vocals are terrible on this album.

Big step up from Diabolus...lets just hope that they continue to work their way back to the amazing music they used to make...as this wasnt horrible, it was good as a matter of fact, but it didnt have that great old school slayer feel to it that most of us have come to love and in my case, worship basically

I don't understand why this album's rating is so low. It's friggin' awesome. I mean this is so hardcore Slayer that it's just silly. The riffage, the sloppy solos, Tom SCREAMING at the top of his lungs, and Bostaph pounding the kit like he's fighting it all equate to one intense ride of an album. I can't wait for the next one!!!

This album is good in small doses. Alot of the lyrics tend to suck. But they can still kick major ass in the genre, which is more than I can honestly say for the likes of Metallica

Yes i completely agree with MetallicaBowler, slayer is genius, and as far as lyrics go, slayer is just saying what needs to be said and heard. After hearing the album for the first time i felt enlightened. People need to open up more and not dismiss lyrics just because there hateful. listen to them and maybe they will make more sense. Especially if you put the lyrics in context to your own life. Relating to the lyrics is the best way to appreciate them.

I don't dismiss the lyrics because they rag on christianity. I happen to enjoy Death Metal and Black Metal and other forms of "Anti God" music. I don't like the lyrics because a four year old with a list of swear words could have written the majority of them.

Slayer don't write particularly bad lyrics in my opinion.

They come up with good ones every once in a while. But come on, "Exile" has some seriously crappy lyrics.

If you all want to see Slayer's worst lyrics, look no further than all of the lyrics off of "Diabolus in Musica". Wow.
And yes, most of the lyrics off this album are pretty bad. "Disciple" probably has the best on this album, and "Bloodline" 2nd.This Message Edited On 04.22.06

I can agree with that, and "New Faith" would be third.

Payback deserves a mention. Why am I the only Slayer fan who seems to like this album?

I like it, and I believe most people do. Payback is good though, but the lyrics...eh.

This is actually the only Slayer album I can still be bothered with. And "Payback" does have some crappy lyrics. But the all-time worst song Slayer has ever lyrically put together has got to be "Piece By Piece".

Piece By Piece kicks ass
