Idk if it's the production per se, but it's definitely solid. Some of his later records have noticeably better production imo (esp station to station)

4.5 superb lukeduggan | May 5th 12
A pretty dismal album, with one or two decent tracks. A mauling of The Rolling Stones' Lets Spend The Night Together is particularly cringe-worthy.

Station to Station and Low are head and shoulders above the rest production wise yeah
His aughts material also sounds great imo but thats kinda apples and oranges

that’s good. I listened to Ziggy again last night and the production bothered me less but I still have gripes with how empty the vocals sound and the weird drum panning

what version are you listening to
2012 40th anniversary remaster sounds amazing

that one I think. it’s not really something a remaster can fix

The vocals sound empty? I think 5 Years is one of his most impressive songs vocally

talking about the production not his performance. although neither are really an issue on that one (great song)

it wouldn't be a good song vocally if the production was shit; i'm saying i think the production suits it perfectly. i could see making a case for the prod not being amazing on space oddity or to some degree hunky dory much more than ziggy.
edit: didn't see ur whole post at first, this phone is dogshit

don't really wanna harp on it much longer but I'll just say this sounds much better to me than his previous stuff, that big sexy bass throughout the whole thing helps a lot. the songs are also just more interesting and lively imo. maybe the highs aren't as high as stuff like Five Years, but there's also nothing as boring as It Ain't Easy or Kooks

if the Ziggy Stardust album is Ocarina Of Time this album is Majora’s Mask
also that ranking is super wack ignore that

no way lol. i like this album but it's a bit on the lower end, despite having some of his best songs (there's noticeably a lot more filler on this as opposed to say diamond dogs oe hunky dory... and also it's nowhere near his darkest, if that's where the mm comparison comes in).
