yeah better this than releasing shitty pop albums at their 40's. but still kinda pissed because they could've easily been capable to release a widely acclaimed classic

there was talk of a Darroh solo album. there are a few rough demos floating around.
but who knows what his plans are, what with a new wife and baby recently

yeah this can still end up well. Darroh has such an amazing voice, it would be a shame if we didn't hear more of that

I remember even just after this album was released watching a bunch of interviews where Darroh seemed
really, really depressed talking about how much financial trouble the band was in. Bums me out.

they had so much potential. fuck.

Yeah, they even said they had a few new songs ready and Darroh had some pretty neat solo demos out. And then they just kinda...vanished.
I think it was always a money thing. They were in a lot of debt, I guess their fanbase wasn't big enough to support them...or too many of them just didn't buy any of their shit. Sucks hard.

Making it in a band is fucking tough these days, man

Especially since all the attention is on shit like Lady GaGa. It is what it is.

plus with Andrew having a new baby, I'm sure he would've wanted to take some time off anyway
who knows, maybe they'll get back together someday. maybe Andrew will put out some more solo stuff.
in any case we'll always have 3 stellar albums to jam to

If anyone read Brett's statement about leaving the band it was pretty depressing. He said he wanted off the ship cause the band was basically deteriorated internally into a total shambles.
Fingers crossed they get back together some day and record some new jams, the consistency from I.F.S onwards has been remarkable

I haven't dug Logan's drumming so if they ever release another album one day I hope they patch things back up with Brett.
|

Yeah Brett's drumming is fantastic. Really hope they manage to patch things up. Still have that nostalgia kick from "The Wife the Kids and the White Picket Fence".
Just an awesome band.

The impression I've gotten from talking to Andrew (which may no longer be accurate or be me misinterpreting what he said) is that the unreleased songs might see the light of day eventually but maybe not as Fair to Midland songs since he wrote practically all of them. And unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of "patching up" going on... I don't know if they're all exactly on bad terms but they're certainly don't seem very close.

yeah last i heard they were in different parts of the country. things really went south with Brett from what i heard
though he still hangs with Matt from a few FBook photos i've seen
so we'll probably never see the classic lineup ever again with Jon on bass and Brett on drums
but i'd be happy to hear 'FtM' music in any form, Darroh solo form or whatevs

There was a lot of talk of them breaking up after Fables too though, even within the band itself, so who knows, maybe there's hope
Convict, lucky you got to talk to him and get an inside scoop, a bit jealous!
