Im listening to this now, they are all decent to pretty good, but the Temple fo the Dog, Skid Row, and GnR covers dont touch the originals. Solid effort though. Chick can sing. Its the band that struggles to duplicate the RAWK greatness of the aforementioned artists.

lol just read this line, you're out of your mind Pizza:
Haha knew that was coming eventually. I don't have any previous history with listening to Skid Row, but if I did I might have been a bit harsher... maybe.

The Heart cover rules.
Not really hard to beat the original one.

They do a decent job on the Slave to the Grind, but go listen to the original again and notice the thundring bass groove, then listen to how its absent from Halestorm's version.
The Heart cover is good, her voice is similar to Ann Wilson's anyway so not surprising there.
The Beatles cover was better than I thought it would be. Odd song to choose.

Following a live CD/DVD, Pennsylvanian hard-rockers Halestorm also release an EP of 6 covers prior to their 2nd studio LP. The intriguing song selections are a pleasant surprise, with the quartet covering tunes spanning many decades & genres. From the pop-rock of Lady Gaga, Heart & The Beatles to the heavier Skid Row, Temple of the Dog & Guns N' Roses, Halestorm showcase their disparate influences & perform the covers more than adequately. And while powerful vocalist Lzzy Hale is again the main attraction, one gets the feeling that Halestorm may be a better all-around band for recording this EP. Recommended Tracks: Out ta Get Me, Slave to the Grind & I Want You.
