I know nothing about cassettes, but why do they even bother selling inferior quality cassettes if the pro-tape versions are better? Do some people like the much crappier bm sound on the cassettes, or is pro-tape more expensive for labels to do, or...?

it's cheaper for labels to dub their own tapes instead of paying for professional companies to do it obviously, but also in alot of small label cases it's about staying true to the underground ethos and tradition of the scene. I love raw, noisy, lo-fi stuff mostly anyways so the reduced quality is fine with me. To be honest when they're being played through a decent hi-fi system at volume the difference in quality isn't half as noticeable. Yeah some parts have a bit more fuzz or a might not quite have quite the same clarity, but it's the ripping and compression into mp3 that fuck most of them to be honest.

The one I have is listenable but it's way worse than the cassette rips I had of their other stuff. I think the really clean version loses some of its grit without the constant kershshshshshshshsh in the background, but the amount of it in the first cassette rips was more terrible that usual.

Yeah, the raw production is a staple of these guys and their labelmates, but that original rip was just plain unlistenable. At least now we can actually hear the music.

I've listened to this nearly as much as their other two albums, but I'm listening to it now and realizing that it is just as fucking good as them. This band can do no wrong.

I can imagine how much this album would have improved if it had the same production as the new album.

This band's first 3 albums are all almost flawless. Beneath This Reality of Flesh blows, but I haven't heard the newest one yet.
