It's my interpretation of the album, and she's said things along those lines. I understand that not everybody feels that way!
Anyhow, I really like this album and was caught by surprise by how much I enjoyed it.

Uhm I don't know what some of YA'LL are talking about, but this album is one of the best albums in the past 20 years. Just take a glimpse of music today, then listen to Beyonce's STRONG, ( @ theacademy) soulful vocals, then go listen to Britney Spears or Kelly Clarkson. It's like she's telling all those other semi singers to sit down an watch a pro at work.

Had a listen and I agree with the review. The lyrics are a bit meh but the vocals are great and it sounds genuine. Potential for a 3.5.

It takes more than a great voice to record a good album. I'm talking about Miss Knowles' lackluster songwriting here.

I like her voice, and she certainly didn't get over-commercial here. She went too far the other way, though, and forgot the hooks too much.

Funny thread. Excellent review, Conrad. I can't say that I look forward to hearing this, but I will at the very least check it out whenever I get through the mounds of other albums on my ever-growing list of 2011 recommendations.

Just wait until this gets a few more votes, 24 votes are hardly conclusive. Katy Perry's Teenage Dream had a pretty high average at first but now it's 2.4 with 210 votes.
