I think Hounds of Love has that specific magic, that "purple cloud"-y atmosphere that puts it a bit over this, and also arguably the Ninth Wave suite. But they're both amazing either way. Her best two albums pretty clearly imo, even though most of the other ones are also good.

yeah understandable--on certain albums the atmosphere just puts them over the edge. hounds of love doesn't have that type of atmosphere for me. this one is just so incredibly strong songwriting-wise and in terms of variation and complexity
