Knott, you're one of the best writers on this site and this is a brilliantly constructed and articulated review. Reading it made me consider giving this record a 5, but I'm still letting it sink in, so I think I'll stay in 4.5 land for just a little bit longer. Pos.

edit: i hate having to use my phone to write comments.

Yeah, Ali, I got told today there were distribution issues. It sucks, but it's why I never pre-order, just go out and buy it on release day.

Yes, Phideaux. What I know about your taste tells me you should love him.

I've got no idea how he does it, but from the night I saw him open for Social D, to the first time I heard Love Ire and Song, to this album, I swear he's singing to me. Goddamn, this is good.

Great review but:

"It's this personal attachment, this obvious link to Turner's inner thoughts that set this record and

Love, Ire & Song apart from his other two albums; it is abundantly clear from the very start to the

very finish of England Keep My Bones that he means every word of what he's saying."

Sleep is for the Week surely has some of his most beautifully honest songs (in my opinion). I remember

seeing him perform songs such as Wisdom Teeth, My Kingdom For A Horse and Worse Things Happen At Sea

when he was touring that album and it was the sincerity of those songs which made me buy the album off

him at the end of the gig. Still, a great review that really get's across what makes Frank's music so

great.

Fair point about SIFTW but I don't feel he conveys that gut-level connection as well as he does here; it's more explicit in his earlier stuff, which kills the sort of suspension of disbelief a little bit. But I'll have a glance at that sentence when I get a chance.

Also, BNM (:

Bonus tracks on the deluxe edition aren't too shabby either.

Wonderful review Adam. This I'll stand by my statement that this isn't his best album though.

I'd say Redemption and maybe I Am Disappeared are better than anything on Love, Ire & Song, but that was better as a cohesive album
