This album answers the question that I'm sure has been on everyone's lips for some time now: 'Sure, Animal Collective are great, but what would they sound like as a Hall & Oates tribute act?'

pumped up kicks is a total jam but i find the rest of this pretty disposable

Heard Pumped Up Kicks on NPR today along witha n interview with the singer. Very cool stuff. One of those songs that lots of
people have heard but have NO idea who plays it. Glad to finally know.

Pumped Up Kicks is ridiculously catchy! I think the rest of the album is fairly solid, i think it's deserving of a 3.5. And these guys only started 2 years ago?! Fml.

I'm still really enjoying this. Rarely ever listen to it from beginning to end, but there's a ton of fun-as-hell songs on here.

this album is surprisingly very good. thought it would be the typical shallow indie pop album, but it has some depth. can't wait to see what else is next for these guys!

While over-hyped LA indie-pop trio Foster the People struggle to top the 3 tracks from their lead-in self-titled EP, 'Torches' is still a fun & promising debut LP with genuine crossover appeal. Arguably a derivative mix of MGMT, Passion Pit & Phoenix, this well-produced album is filled with catchy, summery tunes whose falsetto-laden harmonies will have most tapping their feet & singing along, even if the lyrics are occasionally nonsensical. It does become a little repetitive as it progresses, so it will be interesting to see how well the band follow this up. Recommended Tracks: Pumped Up Kicks, Houdini, Helena Beat & Call It What You Want.

It's not bad. Not great either. My problem is that it isn't all too coherent. Still, I think they have potential.

Album slays, shame it's being butchered/spoon fed to the mainstream
|
| |
How is the album being butchered by the masses? That makes no sense.

I think he means butchered to - not by - the masses. In other words; overplayed. Mumford the People. ;-)
