Review premises itself on an interpretation of GaGa's career that I don't feel is accurate. He uses this to present a portrayal of the album that I would argue is more formed on the content of the singles released so far and not on the album in its entirety, and again forces this into his grander narrative of GaGa's career.

I agree in parts, and my rating will likely be fairly close to this. But as well written as this might be, I feel it forces a narrative that hampers an accurate review.

And she could have done it to get hotter and be more appealing to a wider audience of people that don't care unless she's hot. Good thing the media and public don't care about looks in celebrities, right? I'm sure the fact that in 2009 most people and media focused completely on her being a fucking tranny could have motivated her to touch some things up too.

I'm sure that's why The Fame sold so well

But noooooooooooooo Gaga is so above those petty descriptors since she's not a normal person prone to caring what other people think because she writes pop songs about individuality

i think the larger point here is that you're saying 'she could have' which means that, on some level, you've conceded the point that having plastic surgery is not 100% inconsistent with her "born this way" mantra, and therefore, we should stop this argument.

Not arguing at all, just having an opinion on it... I was saying more that we don't really know her motives for doing anything so both points could have merit. Besides it's not like there's great music to talk about instead

lamer I don't know anything about you, or read any of your posts so I guess that makes you a giant fucking retard with your logic

Surprised, thought this was going to be loved when it finally dropped. Ah well. Will check out if I get bored enough.

up to track 6 and it's catchy fun pop that dominates most of the trash that gets radio play, so why is this getting some serious hate? people talking about her visual shock value but you don't watch music you listen to it........
admittedly i read like 2 comments here and only skimmed the review, but that's the vibe i'm getting.

On that level it's better than a lot of her peers

But her peers are Katy Perry and fucking Ke$ha and this is way below par for her

yeah except that this site seems to give katy perry 3 stars instead of 1. lady gaga's production is far superior to those two. i dont get why people seem to have a problem with catchy pop music? sure the lyrics are pretty shit, but what were you expecting?

Schiebe is pretty cool.

Won't surprise me if all the people who have rated the album already haven't really even listed once

through.

Catchy fun pop is great, but none of the songs that have been released so far are catchy or fun. And being better than shit doesn't automatically make something good.

lmfao yeah except that i clearly think differently to you, because i think quite a few if not most of the songs on this album are catchy or fun or both. it's not like gaga has changed her style from her previous albums - most of the songs still have hooks, are produced in a similar way and contain similar vocals and lyrics....so why is this getting so much hate? and if you disliked/hated her previous albums then tell me why are you here listening to this album?

yeah this is pretty good

One way or another, whether she loses her fanbase or, more likely, herself, the fall of Lady Gaga is coming. It will be a spectacular crash. And, I suspect, a spectacular light show.

middle of the album is definitely the best

I don't think it's that much different from anything else she has done, the production is great. tries a few new ideas

i'll give this a few more listens but unfortunately I have to go against popular opinion here, this really isn't that bad
