looks like i'm a bit of a black sheep for actually expecting popular folk to lay down so interesting grooves. sigh [2]

i like mumford and sons better than fleet foxes. i also like SIMON AND GARFUNKEL, local natives, the morning benders, grizzly bear and probably others more too. and in my head all that shit's folk so deal with it.

"whatever, picture me giving a damn i said never" - flavor flav

"que onda guero" -beck

'shit i don't care enough about to read' - fleet foxes

steo judging by the fact you only post in mumford & sons or fleet foxes threads and the amount of blatant dick sucking you perform on the latter based on their lyrical/instrumental talents leads me to believe you really dont listen to much folk

Ooo, no I listen to a lot of folk music. =P
A shit ton.

Folk lyrics are a big deal. In terms of story-telling, they don't exactly have to be well worded. It
just needs to be a good story, be it simple or not.

In terms of music; I'm used to listening to some pretty constructive players like Dock Boggs as
banjo players. The gimmicks that Mumford offer are really...gimmicky.

You know; I may not like Mumford & Sons all that much. I've more than stated my opinion about them
and
the heaviest response I got was 'It's catchy', which is cool but you know, it's just not for me I
guess. They have a new track though called 'Broken Crown' which is promising though but I find the
rest of their stuff melodramatic and fake.

The reason I post only in FF and Mumford in terms of folk (Because I post in loads of other albums
too) is that they're the only popular folk bands today. (Bon Iver tilted away from folk in his
latest album I thought)

Other then that; I am one of the only active people on other, great contemporary folk artists. I'm
the only one to have rated the new outing by Sarah Jarosz and one of the few who is aware of Sam
Amidon, Frontier Ruckus and the likes. 'Folk' here seems to be pretty broad if we are to include
bands like Local Natives. They remind me more of a rock band or an 'indie' band really. =/

To be short; there isn't much else folk to talk about here. =P
Unless you can prove otherwise as to me not liking folk music; then do so. By the way; Fleet Foxes
weren't the band that got me into folk music. The Dubliners were. =)

I still need to check this out. Saw them on that Live at Abbey Road show the other night. Fleet Foxes strike me as being folk and not fauxk.

Fleet Foxes are ok, they have done some decent songs so far. I would put them as folk-rock.

I haven't liked Mumford and Sons much. Nor Grizzly Bear or The Morning Benders.

Yeah, folk rock seems the best. Really similar to CSN and Simon & Garfunkel.

Pretty good review, although I honestly can't see how you have their debut at a 4.5. This is so much

better.
