huge disappointment to me, way too ambient. Little smoke was pretty good and the rest was very unremarkable. I never liked the stylistic shift since Young Mountain, and sadly this band is pretty uninteresting now. I like ambient music, but none of these songs can hold my attention very well and they sort of just needlessly drag on.

I usually don't like reading music reviews (I'm one of those people who goes out of their way to do things they know they'll hate) but this was an excellent review. I'm really glad I read it - I didn't like the album on my first couple of listens, but after reading this review and thinking about the album in a new light, its hugely grown on me. I think calling their previous stuff "insipid" is probably a bit extreme, but I see your point.

there's no way this is better than young mountain, they're just very different. noctus is right, i
feel entirely indifferent towards this album. i know what they're trying to do but i've heard it a
million times and it doesn't grab my attention. I like Little Smoke though
