It is indeed a good album, Adam, but this isn't substantially better than their previous album and I don't recall making such a bold claim about Sigh, unless it was something along the lines of me saying it's one of the best metal albums in recent memory. Regardless, that's in the past.

I'd rather have a passionate review full of hyperbole that actually captures the writer's opinion than some bland and tepid christgau type bullshit.

lol yeah this is probably one of my more ridiculous reviews, and probably not my best (and definitely not my most objective)
people can chalk it up as bullshit along with my obvious joke review for sum 41, but this time i was serious in my hyperbole : (

@Sowing: I'm sorry if I've put you down, I just think you can do better. At any rate, the writing is good, I just didn't like the angle.

I know you aren't putting me down, you usually compliment my stuff anyway...and as I've said, I definitely understand why people would question my 5ing this so quickly but I just don't value "time to sink in" as much as others. I write when inspiration strikes me. This time, it struck me on my 3rd listen. People may not agree with the rating, or with some of the excessively gushing remarks I made about its stature in the past decade's worth of music, but just like this album could grow off me, a 2 review of this could grown on someone. However, I'm pretty sure a negative review of this wouldn't have such an outcry, even though it would have been just as impulsive.
I think the main reason people are upset about this review is that they are tired of the hype (and trust me I get that - the only reason I can tolerate it now is because I have been waiting for this for months and hyping it up in my own mind ~ and the fact that it shattered my own unrealistically high expectations should tell you that my rating is genuine, but I digress).
But anyway Gyro, I am not offended. I know you mean well and are probably just irked by my hyperbolic remarks concerning how good this is.

This album is awesome it is just doesnt have the classic moments like "Mean Everything To Nothing" had with "I Can Feel A Hot One, "My Friend Marcus", "The River, and "Shake It Out". Seems more content being an awesome album then a close to epic classic like METN. I think its the second best album this week behind Fleet Foxes but I might be wrong.

Zach Galifianakis is pretty talented. I don't know how he has all the time with his movies and this band.

I love this band and Andy Hull is my favourite person and of course the album is great but I feel like all these 5s kind of overhype it.

Good review. Pos.
I was waiting for this album to come out before getting into Manchester Orchestra (which you rec'd to me, SS). It's just a thing I like to do (get into a band by starting on their most recent output). In any case, I am glad that I can finally get started on these guys now =)
Will get Simple Math ASAP.
