its all a clusterfuck.
genre tags should be used as general overviews of a sound given to someone who's ill-informed.
give a general basis (band A sounds like Bands B & C so thus they make type-o-music D) and basically just make it easier for people who know too much about music to help those less knowledgeable. (or vice-versa)
hell if it ever works like that though, shit's more confusing at times.

ya but that clusterfuck in post-punk has allowed it to absorb lots of great albums and get rid of bad ones. Like no one says the bad talking heads albums are post-punk but all the good ones are.

seemingly taken the end of lcd soundsystem for me to stand up and take any notice of them, oh how i've missed out/ this stuff is simply delightful, sugary sweet

it's one of those albums that's so easy to love and, as a result, easy to hate

this is maybe the album people cite most for their hatred of james's postmodern irony or whatever it is that people hate about LCD but i think that this whole album comes off as very real, maybe james using his intelligence and wit and "irony" and what have you not to flout convention or to be obnoxious but to just sort of try and be real about human emotions. even the songs that are heavy on what people dislike about LCD are just fucking jams anyway, see "north american scum"
