Actually, this album follows Travels. Lost Ground is completely unrelated. + "Gunter" is the main character from Travels. + The train doesn't kill both of them, it kills "Gus". Then Gunter goes to confess his sins, and carves his name in the old brass bell so when it rings he can hear it in hell, then commits suicide himself. This album and Travels fit so well together it blows my mind. Other than the story being somewhat wrong, good review.

This review is fantastic; great job!
I haven't paid enough attention to the story of the album yet. I appreciate the summary here; is there a website i could use to find an in-depth explanation, or is it evident enough from just reading the lyrics?

I don't get what you're going for there, but I know what you're saying. I didn't think it sounded THAT fanboyish. I just told the story for most of it and tried to leave the semen for the last little bit.

"is there a website i could use to find an in-depth explanation, or is it evident enough from just reading the lyrics"
that's what I was wondering. i'm not 100% on the story, and it shows. I just read the lyrics from this album and their other two to try to piece it together.

from some of the lines i've been picking up, it sounds like Gunter and Gus's father is the character from Lost Ground since they're both war veterans with drinking problems.

dont think thats possible because the ending of lost ground features the same sound as the acoustic part in prophet in plain clothes, im pretty sure that was a purposeful tie in
