I'm 4 songs in and all I've have heard is generic chugging and way too many breakdowns. What is so special about this again?

I still dig this, for a band that's really being hindered by their label they still turn out very enriching music.
Are there too many breakdowns? Yeah, probably, but some of them (see Demon Teeth) are very good.

Good review man. Though the genre is getting pretty bogged down and uninspired, their are still a few gems to be found. The Color Morale are one of them. It's easy to tell they are very passionate about their music and love what they do. Nothing really stands out about these guys, but in a good way. Because rather than having a single thing stand out, they stand out as a whole. Each musician is good at what he does. And though there is still the chugging, they make it enjoyable and mix it up a lot. These guys definitely have potential to be one of Rise's biggest bands.
