Man, it has taken a looooong time. But I think this finally fully clicked for me. Going to have to bump. Have been going through their discog again and this is up their with their best imo.

I like how everyone hates this album but no one criticized hail to the thief for being their more sterile-sounding album to this day.

The radiohead fanbase is less coherent than tool's criticizing their albums.

BUT I still think httt needs a revision for example the com lag version of I will is superior to the album version...just saying.

Album Rating: 3.7
This is bc the Radiohead fanbase is actually multiple overlapping fanbases whereas the Tool fanbase is an army of crusty/nostalgic stoners from whom no-one in their right mind would expect coherence to begin with

That's a good argument

I hate that this album’s average will be forever dragged down by the original ratings from users around the time of its release that rated it too low despite the fact that the dominant narrative today (at least here) is that this is an unreservedly excellent album. Not that a 3.5 average is awful by any means but based on discussions today it probably ought to be in the 3.8-4.0 range.

This one just popped into existence but it has some of the bands most timeless tunes. Essential.

I feel like 3.5 is the "correct" rating (from a personal perspective, of course). It indeed has some amazing tracks - Bloom, Codex, Lotus Flower, Feral (yes, Feral, it's a great song you asswipes). But I've never been too huge on Morning Mr. Magpie or Little By Little, and Get Up the Ghost is merely "pretty good". But the fact that there's only eight songs is a little distressing in the weird way (it makes the faults feel a little 'bigger') and I haven't always been super keen on the flow of the album (except for Bloom, which is the perfect opener). A great album, yes. But I can't quite justify the 4.0+.
