yeah i've been using RYM lately a lot as a way to find stuff, mostly old post-punk, new wave, etc. it's great for finding stuff but RYM certainly has it's flaws. it's pretty much shit when it comes to metal, barely has a community, and is horribly predictable when it comes to rating averages. RYM has like Rolling Stone taste in music

yea well i just use it for the charts. dont post or anything. I also accept that the older an album is the higher rating its going to get. alot of great newer albums will only have like a 3.3 there but still its a good guide mostly. i think it has pretty good taste in metal though so what examples are you talking about?
|
| |
yeah i only use the carts. well i can't look now because the servers are down, but i mean that there's like no metal albums with an average above a 4.0. the top 1,000 or so is just like the discog of 10 different bands and mostly 60's/70's stuff. i think none so vile isn't even in the top 1,500 or so like holy shit. and if i recall correctly storm of the light's bane is the highest rated bm album and it's like a 3.6 or something

Album Rating: 4.0
nah they have a bunch of metal albums rated above a 4. storm of the lights bane is a 4 i think and so is burzum for bm. but you also have to take into account that their ratings overall are lower than here. even their best rated albums like dark side, ok computer, a love supreme, loveless, zeppelin iv, etc are only like 4.3s.
so yea i dont even care what the ratings are really its just the charts are cool.

dude sput's charts are hilarious. our all-time list is so bizarre. but the Cowboy Bebop OST is #14 of all time which is pretty rad. i don't really care about the averages either, i was just getting at the fact that i find sput a more reliable source for metal in general.

Album Rating: 4.0
idk i dont think so at all. this place has way too many bad "core" albums rated way too high.
yet on rym they only have like a 3.1 with 32 ratings lol.
RYM just has a bigger database so they have good metal albums that only have 4 ratings here about 100-200 on there
|
| |
ambiant otaku has like 100 ratings there so it has my 'spec
|
| |
This rating is a shame.
This album is a solidified classic. The beats are on point and CL smooth controls the mic well, and his flow is solid. The lyrics are in no way 'underdeveloped.'
If you don't like Hip hop/Jazz Fusion, this means you do not like any work by Gang Starr, A Tribe called Quest, and many more essential artists. I suggest you give this another listen my friend.

so yea album is great. a little too long though at an hour and 20 minutes.
theres about 4 tracks that could have def been cut, but they arent bad songs by any means.
T.R.O.Y is still the greatest thing

cl smooth gets pretty boring. guy up there probably auto 5's every early 90s hip hop album
but yeah this is still tight

yea hes a solid rapper but over 16 songs you just want a little more variation. this is why wu tang is so good because theres so many different personalities popping around. still though sir peter rocketh keeps it goin throughout.

man, i got to see these guys at just a local club up here in canada, cost me $19.90. I felt like I was stealing from them to pay that much, needless to say that they killed their set, and were great with the fans, bought a shirt and got it signed.

Nice.
Yeah, they are legends. Good to hear that they're still performing.
