Stipe's voice on Can't Get There From Here always sounds strange to me ha.

Call me crazy but this just might be on par with Murmur for me, even though I listen to the latter far more often

Nice one^
Never claimed not to be

Automatic is a classic and Murmur is about 4.5 for me, but this is almost definitely my 3rd favorite. A lot of people rank Reckoning, Lifes Rich Pageant or even Document above this, but this one has a special charm to it, it's sort of an oddball in their career too.

Gonna listen to this next, thanks guys.

You got it buddy. First 5 albums, Automatic and New Adventures are essential REM.

I've heard most of those, including this one, before. But seeing this thread just made me think giving this a spin would be perfect right now. Reckoning might be my favorite at the moment.

That one is excellent but also a bit inconsistent for me to rank it in their top 4 probably.

Driver 8 is top tier, definitely.

Definitely. Spinning some tracks from this, Green Grow The Rushes is so playful, great tune.

It's a great one. Just finished the album. Wendell Gee is great, maybe my favorite on here.
|

There's lots of great tunes to choose from and it flows beautifully as an unit too, this is special. Old Man Kensey is so underrated.

Hmmm, didn't find that one to be overly memorable. But I agree that it does flow very nicely as an album.

I just love that bass, plus Michael and Mike's interplay vocals there too much.
