I'm working on the geological architecture of an ancient deep marine channel; the site is currently part of the Cariboo Mountains in western Canada. The Cariboo itself is about 400 miles west of the Canadian Rockies. Basically studying this deep marine channel is important because it provides analogues for petroleum and well geologists currently looking for new deposits in modern deep marine channels.

So, yeah =)

Does your program have a thesis too?

Hey I studied that (the Chicxulub) too! But it was very early on, so I've forgotten huge bits of it =S What are you thinking of changing your major to, out of curiosity?

And to answer your question about what I plan to do with my degree...it isn't really my choice. I'm actually only in Canada under a scholarship from a Malaysian oil and gas company (it's Petronas; they're the guys who own the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers - which is perhaps Malaysia's most famous landmark). They're gonna haul my ass back to Malaysia in less than half a year, and presumably are going to stick me in their geological research/exploration department.

YEAH!

Am just waiting for AIM to send me my confirmation e-mail =)
