Hell yeah dude! One of the best MK III live recordings along with Live in London.

Great album, superb performance. Last two tracks are magnificent.

Everything from Mistreated onwards is phenomenal on here. I probably hold this album in higher regard than I did back when I reviewed it.

Damn, this is quite an old review. For some reason I was quite sure you reviewed this a year ago.

Blackmore's attacks never grow old. The guitar solo in 5th track is incredible.

I lost track of how many guitars he destroyed at the end. What a legend.

I have both CD and DVD of this show. Ritchie plays like a demon, Mistreated is epic, with a great vocal from Coverdale. Am I the only one who has a problem with Hughes' singing on the live releases? I find his vocal acrobatics irritating & unnecessary, especially on 'Smoke...

Agreed Claude. He's just so over the top and unconstrained.

Yeah. A bit of colour is ok, but he really overdoes it, and, to my ears, sounds like a git at times. Just my opinion, but I think MK III would've been better served with Coverdale the lone vocal. For me, Hughes takes the edge off this and Live in London with his carryon.

"He's just so over the top and unconstrained."
Kinda like most other aspects of Purple's live performances back then though (which is what made them great), although I do agree that he can get annoying at times with his live vocal gymnastics but when he's singing normally he's always excellent.
Hughes was definitely a key part of why the Mk. III line-up was so good.

Hughes was a key component for sure. But you can be unconstrained and creative/experimental or annoying. Hughes was the latter most of the times live. His performance on studio DP and Medusa of course was great though.
