Definitely doesn't deserve as much hate as it does, but it's comparatively not as amazing as the rest.

Bulletproof Heart is so fucking good. Surprisingly timeless for MCR.

Yeah it grew on my over the last couple years. I think I first listened to it in 2017 and waited so long because I always presumed it was garbage. The Black Parade also grew on me.
But it's intriguing in that on the surface it may seem very poppy and catchy, shallow even, but it's also very powerful with a positive lyrical ideology. More positive and empowering and less emo than the last few albums. Not saying that necessarily one style is better for enjoyment, but the lasting impact MCR will have on listeners with this album and its message will be very positive.

The fact that this is their most positive and less angsty album is precisely what made me appreciate this more over time than Black Parade tbh. That and the fact that it's front to back loaded with bangers

This is still good for a jam every now and then.

Nanana was on the radio which I listened to all the time when this came out.
Anyway, I've been going through some of their discography and it's good, wow, I've neglected them for a long time.

I really don't get the hate for this one tbh. The radio intros are super skippable and just there for thematic purposes so fair enough, but the songs themselves are almost all pretty huge bangers. Stuff like Sing and Party Poison aren't incredible but this also has a lot of their best songs on it (stuff like Na Na Na, Bulletproof Heart, Kids From Yesterday, Scarecrow, and Save Yourself are actually fantastic). Conflicted on if I prefer this to Conventional Weapons or not, that is a superb punk rock album played straight with none of the theatrics of the other 4 MCR albums, but this one feels like it has so much more energy to it

This album was such a flop. Would have been forgiven much more if conventional weapons had dropped in 2008 and then this in 2010, but with a 4 year gap, it is easy to see how this became a nail in the coffin. Excited to see the coffin ripped open though with some live shows soon!

this album ruled, but ppl have to remember that they were exhausted from the Black Parade touring.

i mean constant bouts of food poisoning and band members continually leaving the tour for years will do that to ya.

I really regret not listening to this when it came out during my high school years. That time was already stacked music wise but it would have meant so much more to me.

the mad gear and missile kid ep that came out right after this also gets overlooked a lot and it's got some killer material, also the bonus tracks from this Zero Percent and California are kinda cool
