i really enjoy certain moments on here but as a whole its pretty inconsistent to me. the focus remaster was also my introduction to these songs. i love cosmos, that bass part comes in and it just knocks you off your feet and the solos are still awesome. i wouldn't mind them taking out the death growls if the songs were all as good as cosmos but then you have songs like the inner child that just make my stomach turn. aghora's singer isnt the best either dont get me wrong lol im just not a huge fan of this chick.

Hells yeah, you did it KILL! Glad to see this finally being reviewed. Solid review too.

This recording is all about the awesomeness of 90's nostalgia, plus the prog. My favorites are the odd-numbered songs up til Mirror Child, and Not the Same.

Following a long tour the band started working on their second LP, it was during this time that the band went their separate ways.

Replace the comma with a full stop.

The drummer Sean Reinert

Leave the 'the'.

The music itself is in vain of the lighter Cynic songs such as Textures and Sentiment

'in vain' is a bit of a strange expression to use here, simpler ones such as 'is lacking' will do better.

Putting Portal into a category of sound is hard but the best way I can describe it is progressive jazz-fusion, but others may interpret it differently as it has hints of atmosphere and metal at times, it's very unique.

You should always and ever avoid 'I', even here. 'the best way it can be described' is much better. Also, in the same thought, 'others may interpret' can be replaced with 'it can also be interpreted'.

You're actually doing a great job here though, keep it up. This is a massive improvement from the one you did on Leprosy. Another piece of advice I could give you is to double-check the interpunction, it could use some commas in some places. But nicely done, I'll pos.
