Need some more objectivity. Plus this album is practically unlistenable except for Brother Sport which is repetitive.

The reason I say that this is critically identical to Feels is because while they both are fun, poppy listens with some really shining moments, both are homogenous listens - one because eventually the freak folk elements become stale and the other because the production value and the score are both so jam-packed with unnecessary indie wank that it comes across as homogenous, boring and ridiculously trite. With Feels this is best displayed on "Daffy Duck" while the best example from this is "Lion In A Coma," which is one of the worst Animal Collective songs to date.

But Strawberry Jam is killer.

I love Lion In A Coma! But I think Animal Collective just like being weird. I think it sounds natural, its not like they try to show off technical guitar playing or try to sound all epic or complex.

"Lion in A Coma" is heartless and pathetic. And yeah they do kinda show off how quirky they appear to be and that's coming from a fan. I mean they take the simplest concepts and add trumps that sound like Aboriginal instruments and 7/8 time sigs to everything it's some of the most blatantly compostionally technical stuff out there and when they fail it's because it seems so outrageously contrived (Danse Manatee)

Um do you even realize the pun in the song title? and they make interesting fantasy lands within their albums with their weirdness. I personally like Danse Manatee and can get why someone would say its pretentious. but I think its more about creating an experience that's truly out of this world rather than contrived weirdness or "indie wank".

explaining that they're critically identical by saying they're homogenous isn't explaining at all. even so, the sentence after that made it clear that you just found them boring albums for different reasons. i don't mind that at all, it's your opinion, but saying they're "critically identical" is off the mark. terms like "unnecessary indie wank" aren't helpful either. they don't mean anything.

How is Lion in A Coma 'heartless' and 'pathetic'? You boldly exclaim shit like that, which I'm beginning to think is to invoke anger in others more than anything.

The reason I say that this is critically identical to Feels is because while they both are fun, poppy listens with some really shining moments, both are homogenous listens

And this makes them "critically identical"? I think you should re-think your train of thought on that one. Also, the tracks on Strawberry Jam are stylistically similar and equally engaging at points.

Edit: Dammit! Kiran beat me to the punch.

Um do you even realize the pun in the song title?

Um do you realize that this comment was completely unrelated to anything I just said. Stupid play on words doesn't equal good musicianship or thought processes whatsoever, that's just shallow.
explaining that they're critically identical by saying they're homogenous isn't explaining at all.

Saying that two albums are flawed because regardless of how fun they are they're irritatingly samey throughout in their respective fields is indeed a criticism. And it's my only criticism of the two works to be honest, but it's large enough that it bumps something down from what I'd believe to be about a 4 to a 3.
the sentence after that made it clear that you just found them boring albums for different reasons.

It was a bare-bones critique, me putting it in such black and white terms as "it's poppy but samey - good but nothing more"
but saying they're "critically identical" is off the mark.

Probably.
terms like "unnecessary indie wank" aren't helpful either. they don't mean anything.

How does an unnecessary use of hypertechnical elements which end up hindering a song not mean anything?
