Sound Awake, but not by much. And that score is too low

sound awake has more depth and is probably better but there's more bangers on this for sure.

Yeah might be a 4. Need to relisten. I remember the first half being a 5, but the second half lagged for me and was more like a 3.

I guess it doesn't have a very satisfying closing run - Change in particular is kind of a shit closer. But the songs themselves on the second half rule imo. Sewn and Silent, Mauseum and Synops are all dope, but they're also all growers

Mauseum was actually very immediate for me and was my favorite on first listen. Rest of the songs have grown on me more (first three songs are probably my favorite now).

This would be an easy 4.5 for me if it didn't drag as much in the latter half. Still, they're good pieces of music so I can't be too harsh.

First 3/4 songs are def best here. Just a very front loaded album for me, but it’s an amazing front.

First Karnivool introduction and what will always stick out for me. Akin to how I approach a lot of PT's discog.

This one has the most immediate hook value for sure. Especially the first 2/3

Also has a bit more energy than Sound Awake. And yeah the hooks are everywhere.

Sound Awake has quite a bit more depth and is more meditative and atmospheric, it's a helluva grower. But this has the bangers right off the bat

I like this a lot more than SA
I actually really like the more chill 2nd half, too. I like how it starts out with the heavier songs and kinda creeps into the slower last few tracks.

I don't really count tracks 11 and 12 since it's pretty much silence, but yeah, I thoroughly enjoy tracks 8, 9, and 10. Part 1 of Change would have been pretty cool if more would have happened before that last minute starts up. I really like that little guitar part that comes in around the 3 minute mark. I am kinda curious if it blends right into the actual song and Im a little surprised at my self for not trying it sooner.
I really liked Sound Awake at first, and then I didn't care much for it aside a few songs, and now I am pretty good with it all the way, but some of the longer songs have sections that don't do much for me.

The longer songs are some of the best on Sound Awake, especially the last two. The weakest on there is Umbra bc it's just a watered down version of the album's overall song style; it's not bad, it just doesn't do much. The rest are thoroughly enjoyable to fantastic.
My feelings might change over time, but I still love that album.

Mh, some fast paced banger right here. Fun!
Change Part 1 is like the ultimate cliffhanger tho. Not fair, haha!
I appreciate the nu metal bits tbh. It's not often you hear it executed as well as this
