I can't really wrap my head around why it's being labeled melodic black metal. I feel like progressive or avant-garde metal would be a much more fitting tag.

Yeah, and I say that it's that stuff in the review too, especially progressive. The melodic black is more of an influence that's left over from their earlier material, but it's there imo.

didn't like this at all initially but it's a bit better now, probably a 3.

Hehe, I'm not the best user to inspire hype sadly, Matt, especially since I often go against popular opinion a lot. Still, this has been getting really awesome reviews from everywhere else, so maybe it will pick up here eventually.

I'm really starting to like Hunting the Human a lot.

Sad, but true. I'm starting to think that And Flames Wept to Heaven is the best song here; it's just gorgeous.

Downloading now...... pretty nervous about it because it's either gonna be great or it's going to suck pretty bad.

After reading a bit more about it and hearing "progressive" and "symphonic" attached to it I doubt I will. But im gonna try anyway haha

Definitely not surprised that you don't really dig this Crysis haha. However, I'm loving the hell out of this.

I think it's just one of those albums that either works for you or doesn't... I'm a sucker for dramatic concept albums as long as the musicians and writers are talented enough to pull it off (which these guys are) so it works magically for me.

It's like a black metal version of Orphaned Land, which is awesome.

Not a fan of symphonic black metal, but I'll give this a try.

I think you might like this Deaf. It has a lot of progressive elements to it. Really awesome.

The guitar playing is good, but not really a fan of his cleans. I just don't like symphonic metal.
