good review for a famous sputnik album

Personally It's one of my favorite ones but this is my entirely subjective view

I think I may understand that many people dont see it as a masterpiece but there are so many others that do,and that's only because El Cielo has a somewhat strange ability to interract with the listener in a unique way. It's not by chance that you'll hear many people having this personal relation with the album. It is the album that grows this, and that's a rare merit for a piece of art.

as for the canyon behind her,I too think it's not the best song in this.I would choose Same ol Road or Scissor lock

the lyrics are over the top sometimes but are also great in some parts, like the second verse of Same ol Road

and remember that they are loosely based on some people's letters which were sent to the band.some of them are exactly the same with what the "diseased" by sleep paralysis wrote

however this alone cannot justify the quality of the lyrics...

It's a rather difficult mission to listen to El Cielo in its entirety.

I disagree with that.

El Cielo is a rather "easy" album with no long songs or difficult structures

@fromtheinside, definitely agree on that line. As well as most of the lyrics on The Canyon Behind Her. Those 2 songs are their weakest. Other songs have nice lyrics and good imagery associated with it, but nothing mind-blowing lyrically.

To me it's not really cheesy, it's just so straightforward that it sounds out of place. Sounds like a statement from a protest speech or something, sounds weird being sung.
