this is much better than anything deathcore can offer.

I feel that this album was a step down from Exodus, as there was way way too much filler, I.E. all the compositions/songs under 2 minutes, and the whole minute and a half at the end of the of Part II: Beyond The Gate. In fact you could have cropped together the instrumentals, and you would have had a piece almost as good as the track "Exodus of Autonomy"
|
| |
I agree with you on cropping the instrumentals together being better, but overall i thought this was a step up from exodus.
Also, it's worth a shot crysis as the deathcore element is minimal
|
| |
Alright, I think I'll give this a shot because I'm looking for some new music.
|
| |
yeah the title track on exodus of autonomy is incredible.
also bumping me saying having breakdowns =/= core because that would make suffocation, cryptopsy, dying fetus, etc. deathcore.
|
| |
right but like crimson pointed out, the vocals are pretty deathcore-esque as well. And i'm just saying there's an influence of it here, but more so on the debut imo
|
| |
vocals just sound like death metal vox to me. there's no hardcore influence in them at all.

This is really good. Good review, pos'd.
Not hearing any deathcore though, which makes it that much better

band has balls to put such a big emphasis on the instrumentals.

Yay! I'm super excited for this.
The Exodus of Autonomy has been on consistent play since I first discovered it. I honestly love every part of it. The title track is one of the most memorable, emotive, expressive, and impressive instrumental song I've ever heard.
And yes toolguitarkid, I fully echo your sentiment. Massive balls.

actually digging this quite a bit. a few too many breakdowns, but some are executed decently, and a majority of them are fast.

I am fairly impressed with this album, for a sophomore effort it's very tight and precise.
|
| |
Sooooooooooo, uh, do they still sound like they're ripping off Arsis?
|
| |
I don't find they sound like Arsis. That's just me though, I don't listen to Arsis much. And I love when people say "the vocals are very deathcore". I've heard that said across the spectrum of vocals, from higher screaming to death growls, so it makes me ask what vocals aren't deathcore?

Those who hate deathcore, truly give this a shot. It's extremely UN-deathcore sounding compared to bands like Veil of Maya and Carnifex.
This album is a beautifully woven amalgamation of brilliant melodies, experimental twists, and hard hitting riffs.
I feel like lovers of death metal, deathcore, and thrash will all find enjoyment in this.

i feel like anyone who likes metal, or at least doesn't mind screaming vocals, could find something to like with this cd. it covers a wide spectrum of sounds, sometimes it sounds similar to the faceless, and sometimes it reminds me of the black dahlia murder, but without sounding like they're just trying to imitate either band.

Good review, not sure about the album though. Gave it a listen and not much really grabbed me..

This is awesome
