I think one of the biggest reasons people like PATP more than TLL is that TLL was written when I was 19 and like a lot of 18-19 year old kids in bands we were stupidly mainly focused on writing an album that kids would like at shows. I know it looks like the album was released in 2007 since that was the official Tragic release date, but the album was actually written in 2004 and was originally just released ourselves on burned CDs ~2005. Tragic eventually wanted to give it a formal release and thus we dusted it off and remastered it for a 2007 release which is when most people outside of NC heard it for the first time.
By the time Brady and I were writing PATP I was 24-25 and we were all working normal full-time jobs. At that point all we cared about was writing a record for ourselves that we all enjoyed and were proud of and I think it paid off musically in the end.
So, silentpotato, if you only ever listened to TLL I think you might still have a chance of enjoying PATP as we were at very different points musically when we wrote those two different albums (at least imo). And, if you don't like PATP either, then I apologize in advance for wasting your time.
